Work Required For Repair
Dig To Expose Plumbing & 90's completely
- Remove landscaping/rocks/fabric over and around the plumbing line or lines
to be repaired, (dig area will vary, more lines repaired/replaced = larger hole)
- Dig down and around the vertical plumbing line or lines to be repaired,
exposing the 90('s) that are usually around 2-3' down, placing the dig area dirt
on a tarp so it can be put back in the hole later.
- Dig Horizontally to expose at least 1 foot of the horizontal plumbing that
extends out from the 90('s).
Plumbing repair
- Cut out the 90('s) to be replaced
- Replace the 90('s) with a length of schedule 40 flexible pipe, installed at a
gentle curve from horizontal to vertical lines.
- Test the repair, leaving the hole open for a period of time if necessary to
confirm the repair
Refill after plumbing repaired
- Fill the area around the repair with sand to attempt to prevent future damage
in that area from frost heaving/ice lensing
- Fill in the hole the remainder of the way with the fill that was removed initially
- Put the fabric/landscaping rocks back in place.
If the customer chooses to subcontract or do steps 1-3 & steps 8-9 themselves
they will receive discounts.
If the customer chooses to do steps 1-3 & 8-9, the repair can usually be done
much sooner in the season, within 2-3 weeks after quoting the job as it will
require much less of our technician's time, 1-2 hours dependent upon the # of
pipes being repaired. Upon acceptance of the quote we can schedule time for
the repair where it will fit in our schedule, then the customer can have the
pipes all exposed for the repair date.
